80 plus Lataji sings for a 8 minus girl

MUMBAI.Recently the nightingale of India was the one and only obvious choice for the lifetime achievement award at Global Indian Music Awards held in Mumbai in front of the entire music fraternity.
While accepting the award the octogenarian singer said that life time achievement award doesn't mean the artist should retire and sit at home.I am still young at 80 plus, Lataji is rearing to go on the mic. Very selective she is in what song she lends her voice to but when it come to the music compositions of Shamir Tandon, she is always ready - be it kitne ajeeb in Page3 or Daata sun Le the prayer in Jail, Lataji readily agreed to sing for Shamir when she was told he is scoring music for a children film Satrangee Parachute. True to her statement on stage within days she is in studio lending her voice for Vineet Khetrapal's directorial debut Satrangee Parachute made under the banner of Wonder Works Films.
Producer director Vineet Khetrapal, lyricist Rajiv barnwal and music composer Shamir Tandon were very clear that if this song (titled tere hansne se) had to be recorded it is with Didi or they drop the song from the film. They waited for three months for a date from lataji but true to her promise she came and conquered.
She laughed when was told that she is singing at 80 plus for a 8 minus girl - she joked around in the studio and was surprised that she was offered this - - the film makers were very clear that Didi's innocence in her voice is still at its peak and this background song best be recorded in her voice though it showcases feelings of children.
